I run Widening Communication - www.wideningcommunication.co.uk - with the fabulous Dan Chilcott (also of The Fun Fed at Islington Hub)
We work with young people using film / theatre as a tool to empower and develop the people we work with and celebrate the projects we work on. If that sounds a little vague here are some examples:
- Centre for Excellence in Leadership - we developed a 30 minute play with 12 FE students exploring what they thought of their education
- The Sorrell Foundation - for three years running we have produced and directed celebration events for them with 100 students and young people coming together to share their experience in a fun and performative way
- The National Arts Learning Networks - we produced and co-directed four autobiographical films, developing a model for participatory film that is easily transferable
I am also associate arts consultant for Our Entreprise - www.ourenterprise.com - a social consultancy working to develop integrated and socially responsible public services.
Having studied theatre design at Uni, I'm still interested in theatre, specifically using/reintroducing traditional forms of story telling, and am currently finishing a post grad dissertation on TV puppetry. I also co-founded Qualia Theatre - www.qualiatheatre.co.uk - a company using science as inspiration for art/theatre, which is currently based in Bristol.
I love to cook, experience strange and wonderful things when I least expect them and be in the company of people who challenge me and make me smile in equal measure!
