I'm a freelance community media facilitator, producer, and trainer. I've recently started doing a bit of youth arts project evaluation as well (for Historic Royal Palaces and Tate Britain). Most of my work has been with children and youth, but I'm also interested in oral history and reminiscence work and recently did a reminiscence project with older people. Although I specialise in audio and radio, I'm also really keen on exploring ways that different art forms - eg. theatre, visual art, photography, and music – can complement and enhance the media-making process. And I'm always looking for ways to expand the range of methods and mediums I can draw from. I approach my work from a community arts framework more than a journalism framework so creative and artistic exploration are quite central.
I'm currently completing a masters in Theatre and Media for Development, writing a dissertation on theatre in prisons in the UK. That's taking up most of my time right now. I'll be finished in September. Yippee! Then I'll need to figure out if I can make a go at being a full-time freelancer or have to look for more regular work.
I've lived in London for a year and I'm looking forward to expanding my network of inspired and inspiring people through the hub. I'm always interested in meeting potential collaborators and co-conspirators.
